Luxometer

The correct lighting within a work environment guarantees the conditions for the performance of a specific task in an appropriate way. A properly lit environment has positive effects on the worker's performance, safety while performing his work, eye fatigue that may come to be among other variables. There are several guides and standards both locally and internationally that recommend how lighting should be based on the work to be done by an employee, since there are certain tasks of precision that may require more lighting than a common task such as can be performed in a office. To measure the illumination the so-called luxometers are used, which are instruments equipped with a photocell that indicates the amount of light (commonly in a Lux unit) at a specific point. These equipment are very simple and respond to different sources of light, but they are a vital tool to evaluate both the correct lighting intensity and the correct location of the different sources of light in a work environment.
