To take a sample and the operation of several equipment, different means of sampling and accessories are required, which allow, under different methodologies such as those established by NIOSH, US EPA, OSHA, among others, to determine the amount of a compound by laboratory analytical techniques. Depending on the objective of the measurement, the sampling methodology and the analysis, a sampling train must be used that involves one or several accessories, some means of retention (Filter or tubes) among other parts that ensure that the value obtained by this technique is the correct and valid.
Filters: They are means of retention that allow to contain in general particulate material, fibers, smoke among others for its later analysis which is commonly gravimetric. Methods such as the NIOSH, depending on what is required to measure, establish what filter size, material, pore size and characteristics this medium must have for the correct retention of the analyte.
Coal tubes: Carbon tubes or tubes of some other compound generally allow trapping a sample of gases and vapors within a specific medium so that this sample can be analyzed in a laboratory with techniques such as chromatography. In different methods are established the characteristics of the tube to be used as the length, diameter, internal material, internal material stages among others.
Cyclones / Impactors: For the collection of particulate material, fibers among others, a cyclone or impactor is required, which allows collecting a specific particle size for several methods, depending on the method to be used. These accessories split the entrance of the sample and collect only the one that is of our interest.
Accessories: There are other accessories such as holders for filters, cassettes for mounting the filter sampling train, tube holders and others that may be required for the operation or evaluation of a contaminant using specialized instrumentation.
